Sponge Cake |

Ingredients for Sponge Cake

â€¢ 1 cup salt

â€¢ 1 cup curd

â€¢ Â½ cup oil

â€¢ 1 cup castor sugar

â€¢ 1 & Â½ cup all purpose flour

â€¢ Â½ cup milk

â€¢ Cake tin

â€¢ Butter paper

â€¢ Â½ tsp vanilla essence

â€¢ 1 tsp baking powder

â€¢ Â½ tsp baking soda

Steps for Sponge Cake

â€¢ For Pre-heating a pressure cooker - Add 1 cup salt and spread evenly in the cooker. Place a ring or a plate in the centre of the pressure cooker. â€¢ Adjust the lid of the cooker without its ring and the whistle. Let it pre-heat on medium flame for about 10 minutes. â€¢ In a bowl, add curd, oil (cooking oil) and sugar. Beat all the ingredients well using a blender for about 4 to 5 minutes. â€¢ Note â€“ You can also use a whisk (for about 8 to 10 minutes), however it may take longer than the blender. â€¢ Add all purpose flour to the mixture in 2 to 3 intervals and keep mixing simultaneously. â€¢ Add milk and mix well. â€¢ Take a cake tin and grease with oil from all sides. Place a butter paper and flatten it on the surface. â€¢ Note â€“ If you do not have butter paper, you can dust the tin with maida (all-purpose flour). â€¢ Add vanilla essence, baking powder and baking soda to the cake batter. â€¢ Note â€“ After adding baking powder and baking soda, do not let the batter sit for a long time. Place it for baking promptly. â€¢ Pour the batter into the tin and tap it on your kitchen table or flat surface to let the batter settle inside evenly. â€¢ Place the cake tin carefully on top of the ring, inside the pressure cooker. Cover with lid. Be sure there is no ring or whistle attached to the cooker lid. â€¢ Cook on high flame for 5 minutes. Later, adjust the flame to low and cook for 30 to 35 minutes. â€¢ Insert a skewer or a knife and check if the cake is cooked properly. The skewer should come out clean and non-sticky. â€¢ Let the cake cool down. To remove it out, scrape using knife from all sides. Cover with a plate and turn it upside down. â€¢ Remove the butter paper. Your soft and fluffy cake sponge is ready!
